Tech-friendly Md. Sahabuddin sworn in as the 22nd President

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury administered a 10-minute oath at the historical Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 11 am on Monday. And with this oath, Md. Sahabuddin sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh and replaced the outgoing president Mohammad Abdul Hamid. The immediate past president thus became the resident of Nikunja's President Lodge after completing two consecutive terms.

Md.Shahabuddin, the newly sworn head of the state is not just a tech user but also an advance level tech savvy. Maybe that is why he came out as Twitter trending in Bangladesh as soon as he took the oath. He was regular on social media Facebook till April 18. He used to write regularly on the online portal BD News 24.com. This valiant freedom fighter started the most colorful period of his eventful life by taking responsibility to build a Smart Bangladesh.  

This accomplished son of Pabna retired as a District and Sessions Judge in 2006. Then he served as Commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission till 2016.

The oath ttaking ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui.

The new president Md. Sahabuddin's wife Dr. Rebecca Sultana and son Arshad Adnan Roni and other family members along with hundreds of guests including cabinet members. Attended the swearing in ceremony. The Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak congratulated the new and outgoing President on online social media posts, along with members of the Council of Ministers, politicians, journalists, lawyers and well-wishers from various classes and professions.
